Glad you're interested, and look forward to feedback from your colleagues. I'm certainly not a therapist but many AtMP members are. In fact, just this week several of our members stepped up to provide valuable guidance to a graduate student studying to be a Marriage and Family Therapist. She contacted AtMP because her couples counseling class assigned a project on cohabitating couples and therapy. She was finding very little information on cohabitating couples much less counseling them, so she asked us for suggestions and we passed the request along to some of our members. I hope your organization will contribute to greater recognition of and services for committed unmarried couples and families.

Wow - how amazing to come across your site, and the debates you are having. I run Imago Relationships International - founded by Dr. Harville Hendrix to train couples therapists, and as a community we often struggle with issues like this. I will send an email to my members to let them know about your site.

Harville Hendrix often talks about a new model for marriage. He believes that the high divorce rate is a sign that the old model is simply not fitting our current society's needs. But a new model of committed relationship is emerging, in which there is a new role for committed relationships. This role is much more about each partner helping the other to grow into full aliveness. He and his partner Helen LaKelly Hunt talk about this as a spiritual path. Whether inside a marriage, or any other type of connected and intimate relationship.

I wrote a little more about this on my blog at http://gettingtheloveyouwant.com/blog/relationshipadvice/a_new_marriage/

It sounds like our two organizations may have some interesting opportunities for dialogue
